Who is God and who created Him are questions we have all asked at some point, I know that I did since childhood. And this is a question I mainly bothered my peers with back in primary school (around the fifth grade). The answer I'd get was usually a funny one, "don't ask that question, if you try to find out you'll go mad crazy." Kids have a real fear of God unlike us the rebellious adults but that's still not a valid or helpful answer especially for people who are genuinely interested in God and are seeking a relationship with Him. Well today, I will answer that question for you.

The Bible gives us an answer to this question but it is not straightforward to anyone especially to those who haven't taken the time to read and study the Bible however I'll do the best I can to explain it to you.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” - Revelation 22:13 NKJV

From this verse that we get from the last chapter of the last book of the Bible we see God saying that He is the beginning and the end. The beginning of what? He is the beginning of time and the end of time Himself, meaning from when time began God was already there as He further emphasised that He is the first. Him being the first means that there is no one who came before Him. Him being the last also shows us that He has no rival, no equal and no competition, hence the title "The Almighty." Like I said at the beginning of this post, the answer is not exactly clear for people who haven't studied the Bible and the verse below is the reason why I say so,

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ - Exodus 3:14 NKJV

In this verse we see that God tasked Moses with setting the Israelites free and they all would have asked him, who sent him because they wouldn't just go with him just because he claims to be their saviour. But then God says to Moses, "tell them I AM, sent me to you." Now what does the name or title "I AM" mean?

God calls Himself "I AM" because the name signifies His eternal nature and self-sufficient existence which is an attribute only God possesses. If He is all powerful, He should then really possess this attribute. When God gives this name for His people to call Him by, it conveys His dominion over all things on the earth, universe, heaven and in the spirit. He is the self-sufficient, self-sustaining God who was, who is, and who will be. The name I AM is how God chose to introduce Himself, becoming so sacred that in Judaism, the name is not to be spoken.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” - Revelation 1:8 NKJV

So Who Created Him?

As we have already talked about this, since God is the beginning and the end this means that He has no creator, He is the creator and He is existence Himself. This is why we cannot live without Him, take us humans as cellphones and God as the charger, you can try to live without Him but eventually you'll die if you don't follow and trust in Him but if you seek Him as a cellphone that seeks its charger you'll live because you'll be able to keep moving and living and this is not just on earth.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. - John 3:16 NKJV
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:23 NKJV

God is beyond time, space (the universe) and matter (earth/the physical things). As the creator He cannot bend to the laws of His creation, rather He is above the laws. You wouldn't expect a carpenter to bend to the laws of carpentry because he is above them, he is the one who makes the rules, not the chairs and tables he creates. Time, space and matter were created by God so they all respond to His commands not the other way around meaning, you cannot try to bring Him to the same level as us humans because He is above us.

Where Is The Proof of His Existence?

Well take a look around nature, everything in this world is in order and we call nature creation for a good reason and all living beings on this planet are called creatures. But now the question is who is the Creator of this creation and creatures? It cannot be atoms that rubbed and exploded into a universe after a chemical reaction as the big bang believers like to theorise it. If that's what happened then what caused the chemical reaction, who created the chemicals? If you look at the Monalisa (a famous painting by Italian artist Leonardo Da Vinci) or the oldest building you know, you'll realise that you have never seen the builder or the painter of each of those in person. You have never touched them, felt them or even smelt them but you know that these buildings and paintings were created by them without a doubt in your heart.

So logically we know that the building had a builder and the painting had a painter. There might even be records that support this. So logically we know that there is a Creator of this world who carefully planned it all and put all things in order, just like how the painter made sure the painting is in order and the builder did the same with the building. The records of the Creator's existence are the Bible. I hope that this answered your questions, what you choose to do with this information is up to you. Stay blessed!
